+`straylight` was mostly built to allow for more I/O (as `protagonism` could not accommodate additional PCIe cards) and CPU performance, as `protagonism`'s limited core count had significantly bottlenecked [[https://osmarks.net/memescale/|RADIUS TYRIAN phase II]]. osmarks.net research investigated [[Milan]], [[Genoa]] QS, [[Granite Rapids]] and [[Emerald Rapids]] ES before choosing EMR ES due to the ESes' reported production-like stability and configuration, high core counts and clocks, low cost and accelerators ([[Advanced Matrix Extensions|AMX]], [[Quick Assist Technology|QAT]], etc).
